A very kind if not incredibly strange old man and due to a series of weird sit-comesque events he becomes Irenes roommate, and due to the fact he is incapable of not fucking around and finding out things, monsters and people from his past slowly start to crawl out of what ever pits they’ve been hiding in for the last few centuries.
Genuinely he is very sweet, but he’s just so strange, just don't know how to properly interact with other people. Very fatherly, wants to be there for other people/ likes being able to take care of others. That southern hospitality, will insist he pays someone back or just invites someone in for dinner, always gives back tupperware with food in it. VIOLENTLY passionate about things, if he gets into something it will take over his whole life. He loves people and things too much. He’s blindly trusting of people he loves, and will do horrible things to himself and others if someone he loved told him too- he would let himself be gutted and hollowed out if it meant someone he loved would be warm for a night. He’s very awkward, inept and quiet. He comes off very intimidating and he hates it, he doesn't want to scare people. Very emotionally sensitive and cries kinda easily.
Skinner violently guarded about his past, refusing to talk about anything past the 1910s- and that's only if he even tells you he's "immortal." He's incredibly ashamed of his past if he even remembers parts of it.
By all means Skinner is a medical abomination. His version of regeneration is vastly different and more horrifying, instead of just having a faster heal time like regular regeneration, his veins, muscles, and nerves will extend into these tangled worm like masses that can move on their own. These tendrils will seek to close wounds by interlocking and further tangling, then
over a few hours to a week(depending on the severity of wounds) the tendrils will be absorbed back into the body. Though he cannot reform completely missing limbs or organs, he can form temporary ones out of clumps of tendrils until a suitable replacement is found; his body can't tell the difference between his flesh and others, so therefore he is capable of just resewing lost limbs back on or if one is unsalvageable he can take a body part from someone else and it be accepted by his body.
If he does use another person's body part to replace his own it will slowly change to match the previously missing part. Though he is a universal receiver, he can in no circumstance be a donor as any tissue transplanted from him to another person will immediately become cancerous and rapidly consume the recipient's tissue to gain genetic material for itself eventually killing the host.
These tendrils can actually act independently to stimuli from the main body, though typically it will respond violently, and in large enough clumps can actually pick up items and grab things. Skinners regeneration is also tied with the quantity and type of food he eats, as his body absorbs as much material it can to make up for lost or destroyed matter; and due to how poor the condition his body is in most of the time he is constantly hungry, and runs at an abnormally high temperature. Tendrils resemble varicose veins and can range in collection density, and are typically a bright to crimson red color.
Glossary
Irene: Admittingly Skinner's and Irene's relationship is a tad bit complicated at times, they have come to deeply care about one another over their time as roommates; Skinner tends to worry about her alot. He donest really understand her humor or all this newfangled technology but he's trying his best to be there for her, and tries his best to be as a non-embarrassing wingman he can. Christie: Shows your grandma probably watched enjoyers unite- Him and Chiristie initial became friends over shared special-interests (70s/80s murder mysteries), Christite tends to do alot of the infodumping because She's the one with the most knowledge on these shows, and Skinner is more than happy to listen; they can get so into it that Irene gets kinda thrird wheeled. But as much as they get along her research abilities and interests in true-crime makes him nervous.
Amed: Long time friends, him and Amed have literally been best friends since he was 20. They are the epitome of "they will find one another no matter the universe" and they can and will n through make it everyone's problem. Evem through all the times Skinner basically drops off the face of the earth for decades at a time, when and where ever he pops back up each time they manage to get back in contact and just pick up where they left off like last time. Sidero: Long time arch-enemies, okay not really; but for some inexplicable reason Sidero has beef with him, and he's never really known why. But he sure as hell thinks its funny to fuck with it, they do the typical petty office gays interactions, passive agressiveness, name-calling (Grimace, the purple bitch) and other just juvenile shit like that. But nither of them seem to actuly hate-hate one another, they just love to bully and get on one anothers nerves.
